Governor William Kabogo has challenged youths in the county to take an active role in development.

Speaking at Riabai trading center on Thursday after issuing bursary cheques to needy but bright students, Kabogo said that young people have to get up and claim their stake in development.

He observed that realization of development and growth of economy depends on the input the youth will put in on development.

The governor noted that the government has taken the initiative to empower young people but most of them are not utilising the opportunities given to them.

“I want to encourage and challenge young people to be active and take part in development transformation,” said Kabogo.

Kabogo appealed to the youths in the county to utilise the development funds that are being given to them to start business ventures.

He said that the county government has pumped billions into youth empowerment programmes.

“It is upon the youth to ensure that they utilise every opportunity the government is giving to them for their own development,” he said.

Kabogo said that his government recognises the role of youth in development adding that he will continue to support youth ventures.

The governor at the same time challenged youth to be role models and ambassadors of change.

He cautioned the youths against being lured into crime and other social evils.
