Governor William Kabogo has asked community elders in the county to support his government on development.
Speaking when he hosted members of the Kikuyu Council of Elders Association on Thursday, Kabogo said his government will involve all communities within the county in development.
He noted that community elders have an important role to play on matters of development.
“My government recognises the role played by community elders in development and leadership and will involve them fully in every decision made for the sake of development,” he said.
Kabogo stated that his government was keenly working with community elders to promote peace and cohesion in the county.
He said that peace and cohesion among communities is needed for the county to realise its development goals.
Governor Kabogo asked community elders to push the government agenda in their various communities.
He said his government has initiated various development projects and programmes across the county adding that community elders should help inform the people on the projects.
The governor said Kiambu is a host to many communities adding that all will be represented and included in development.
“People think that Kiambu is only made up of Kikuyu’s only but we have so many different communities living in Kiambu,” he said.
Kabogo at the same time announced that this year’s annual cultural prayer day will be held at the historical Kirigiti grounds in Kiambu in December 31.
