There has been unrest in the opposition as the three Cord co-principals battle it out with each other, each of them trying to prove a worthy candidate to fly Cord's flag come 2017.
The Cord supporters have been a divided lot with the most going for the ODM party leader Raila Odinga while others feel it is Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula. Quite a number, however, think that the 2016 Dignitary Man of Africa Kalonzo Musyoka is more suited for the same.
The Luo elders have come clear saying that it is either Raila Odinga is on the Ballot paper come 2017 or there is no ballot paper completely.
“After thorough deliberations and consultations, we have unanimously resolved that Raila Odinga’s name must be on the ballot come next year,” The Luo Council of Elders said on the 26th of August, 2016.
Exactly one month earlier, there was a different version of things coming from the Western region on the 25th of July when the Luhya elders released their views about the same:
"Luhyas have supported Raila Odinga for far too long but he is always unable to win presidency so it is now time he returned the favour by supporting Senator Moses Wetangula's presidential bid"
On the other hand, a conflicting message from the Kamba elders early this year says it is neither of the two.
"Raila Odinga has no choice but to respect the 2013 MOU and back Hon Kalonzo Musyoka for president because we will not negotiate on that" Kamba elders said on February 15, 2016.
