Kamwangi town boda boda operators have lauded the National Transport and Safety Authority for sensitizing them on road safety.

This is after NTSA in collaboration with the area traffic department held a campaign at the town on Tuesday to educate the operators on the importance of observing traffic rules and regulations.

Led by a famous boda boda owner Martin Mung’ara alias ‘waboda’ the operators said that they will endeavor to follow all the traffic rules in a bid to curb accidents in the area.

Mung’ara who has multiple bikes operating in the town said he ensures that the riders he employs are disciplined and have a driving license.

"I would like NTSA to hold such forums regularly as many new operators join the industry on a day-to-day basis. This will help minimize road accidents," he said.

The sentiments come a day after NTSA held a sensitization and public transport crackdown campaign in the county where authority intends to bring back sanity in the road network.

Area NTSA director Boniface Mugo lamented the rampant increase in motorcycle accidents in the area.

Mugo called upon politicians and well-wishers to help in purchasing helmets and reflector jackets for the operators saying that most of them come from poor background and needed the gadgets for their safety.
