Kamwangi police station officers have launched investigations to ascertain the motive behind an incident where two middle-aged men were on Wednesday night shot dead by unknown assailants at Munyaka area along newly build Gakoe road.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, the station OCPD David Makori said the incident occurred at around 12 pm after a vehicle in which the two men were travelling in from Thika towards Kieni, was allegedly sprayed with bullets by unknown occupants of another vehicle travelling towards the same direction.
"The fatal incident attracted a large crowd to the scene where an eye witness told us that the vehicle carrying the assailants tried to overtake the vehicle in which the victims were in before opening fire making the vehicle to veer off the road killing the two instantly," said Makori.
The police boss suspected the killing might be a result of a deal gone sour between the victims and the assailants.
According to Makori, the vehicle carrying the assailants had trailed the victims’ car from Thika town before they caught up with them at Munyaka where they shot the two dead and fled.
"The two bodies have been taken to Gatundu district mortuary," he said.
Makori noted that it was not possible to identify the bodies since the two did not have any identification documents on them.
He appealed to the public to forward any information that may lead to the arrest of the culprits who are still in hideouts.
