Three suspects alleged to have been involved in an M-Pesa robbery in Kamwangi town on Thursday have been arrested in Mubau village.
The three were nabbed Friday after one of their accomplice who was arrested on Thursday when he threatened to kill an M-Pesa operator, gave information to the police regarding his colleagues’ hideout.
Confirming the incident at Kamwangi police station on Friday, Gatundu North sub-county commissioner Daniel Nyamiti vowed to deal with all individuals engaged in crime.
“At last the suspects are in our custody. It’s been a long day for me and my officers, but with the help of one of the suspects who was arrested yesterday (Thursday), we got to their hideout in a rental house at Mubau and arrested all of them at 3pm,” he explained.
“I will not relent in the fight against crime in this region. I am dedicated to providing a safe environment to wananchi, a mandate I must do with all commitment,” he said.
He said a small knife, gas cooker, a TV set, two fake pistols and an ironing tool were recovered from the suspects.
According to Nyamiti, the three were using the fake pistols to terrorise area residents.
The suspects are in custody at Kamwangi police station and will be arraigned in Gatundu law courts on Monday, he said.
