Speaking in her office, Kangundo Level Four Hospital Superintendent Supa Tunje said that women who choose to deliver at home risk having birth complications that may cause discomfort to the mother or even lead to the death of the unborn child.

"I would like to urge all expectant mothers to consider giving birth in hospitals as it is the safest place to deliver. This is because the hospital staff are trained to handle complications in case they occur,” said Tunje.

The doctor also advised expectant mothers to be going for regular check ups in order to know the progress of their pregnancy, as some complications can be prevented.

"There are complications during pregnancy which can be prevented and this can not be done if expectant mothers do not visit clinics,” added Tunje.
