Hundreds of identification cards remain uncollected in Kangundo sub-county with about 850 copies lying in the office of the registrar of persons.

In this regard, Kangundo sub-county Registrar of Persons Lucy Kyalo has urged chiefs and their assistants to ensure all national identity cards lying in their offices have been collected.

Ironically, as the mass voter registration is ongoing many people are expected to pick their IDs to enable them register as voters but it is the contrary as the number is very low.

Speaking in her office, the officer noted that applicants seeking replacement of lost identity cards had increased since the announcement of the official one-month voter registration exercise in all the sub-counties.

"Quite a big number of people we are getting want to replace their lost identification cards which we attribute to the coming general elections 2017," said Kyalo.

The registration officer commended some youth groups in some parts of the sub-county who had taken the initiative of collecting their IDs from the sub-county offices for distribution to the owners on a mission to ensure every out of school youth registered as a voter.
