The Machakos deputy county commissioner Mr. Samuel Njora on Wednesday advised the Kangundo residents leaving along hillsides especially those in Ngulini, Kwavula and Lualamba locations which are along Kanzalu hills to relocate to safer areas during this heavy rains season because of possible cases of rocks rolling down from the hill and injuring people.

Speaking at a press conference outside his Kangundo office, Njora said that such cases have been witnessed before and thus continuing to live in such areas would be risking lives.

"We witnessed such a case in Mavoloni in Yatta sub county whereby an old man was seriously injured when a hill rock rolled down the slope and destroyed his house; there is a possibility of such cases also occurring in Kangundo hills whereby hills are evidently highly eroded with rocks left bare on the slope," explained Mr. Njora.

He also said that if anyone spotted any loose rock, they should report to the authorities immeadiately so that actions can be taken.
