Plans are underway to set up a state-of-the-art comprehensive medical facility in Nakuru by the Karen Hospital in Nakuru, governor Kinuthia Mbugua has said.
The chief executive officer and co-founder of the hospital Betty Gikonyo on Friday held a consultative meeting with governor Mbugua.
During the meeting, Mbugua said that his government was ready to fully support the initiative.
"I assure you that we are together in this since it will go a long way in providing the much needed high-quality medical services to the people of Nakuru," said the governor.
Gikonyo, a pediatric cardiologist by profession said that the hospital, which will be built at a cost of Sh300 million, will have a 50-bed capacity.
"We are still in the process of scouting the appropriate location in the county," he said.
Karen Hospital already has a satellite branch in Nakuru that was opened in May 2010.
