Farmers in Kathiani sub-county have decried theft of their farm produces from their shambas by unknown people.
Speaking to this writer on Tuesday, several farmers in Mitaboni area explained that maize and beans have been disappearing from their farms lately.
They said that the produce is sold to unsuspecting buyers in markets and more so those who roast maize popularly known as 'mahindi choma'.
Alex King'oo a farmer in Miumbuni area said that many farmers are forced to harvest their crops before due time in fear of being stolen.
"We are forced to harvest our crops before they are due as we fear they are going to be stolen from our shamba," said King'oo.
However in an interview with Kathiani sub-county deputy county commissioner, Geoffrey Omonding warned residents to be very vigilant when buying farm produce from people lest they will buy stolen goods.
He also warned those involving themselves in stealing produce from farms to know their days are numbered.
"Those who have the habit of reaping where they haven't sown should know that the hand of the law will soon catch up with them," said Omonding.
