The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations kicked off smoothly in Uasin Gishu County.
On Tuesday, the exams started off smoothly without any hitches and many candidates are optimistic they are going to perform well.
According to the head teacher of Central Primary School, Ben Oluma his school had registered 82 candidates and all of them turned up for the exams.
“Our school had registered 82 candidates and I’m happy because all of them have turned up for the exams and they have started without any hitches,” said Oluma.
Oluma highlighted that they had a mean score of 271 in the 2014 KCPE results and they aiming at scoring 290 in this year's exam.
On their part, the candidates who spoke to this writer on Tuesday morning showed confidence that they will pass their examination after studying for eight years.
“I’m happy today because our teachers prepared us well and we are optimistic that we will perform well,” said Flora Jeptoo one of the candidates.
The exam enters day two on Wednesday with over 900,000 candidates expected to sit for their KCPE that will be concluded on Thursday.
