Residents of Kebiririgo in Nyamira county have a reason to smile after the call for free maternal health care to expectant mothers on Sunday and Monday respectively.
This comes barely days after the First lady Margret Kenyatta launched a beyond zero campaign in the area and donated the mobile clinic which is expected to help reduce the numbers of deaths that occurs when women give birth.
According to one of the beneficiaries Gladys Boyani, she was heading to the hospital when she was told about the mobile clinic in Kebirigo market; she went there and safely delivered a baby boy for free.
“I would like to thank the county government and the first lady for helping us get the mobile clinic which has helped me and am sure it will help many in the days to come,” she added.
The mobile clinic which was donated by the first lady a week ago in Nyamira is expected to offer pre-natal and ante-natal clinic services, HIV counseling and testing among other basic medical services that are inaccessible to majority of the women in the region.
