Politicians have been urged to stop politicking about community policing and interfering with the mandate of officers charged with ensuring security in Kisii.
According to Kisii Central Community Policing Chairman Stephen Maziwa, the officers know how to perform their duties and there is no need of politicians 'meddling into their affairs'.
Maziwa who was addressing journalists in Kisii on Wednesday on the role of community policing officers accused some politicians of funding some people to campaign against their security measures.
He said the mandate of community policing leaders is to forward complaints on security issues to relevant authorities from members of the public.
"This group (community policing) was formed by volunteers to serve the community, we don't want to see politicians bribing the youth to campaign against us," he said.
He told community officers to avoid politicians who are up to ruining the existing security structures by bribing people to campaign against their activities.
