Kegogi traders in Kitutu Chache North constituency have challenged the Kisii county government to install more security lights in the market to enhance security.

The traders said the market has only one security light which is not enough as the market is big and business is usually opened as late as 9 pm.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday at Kegogi market, the traders led by their chairman Geoffrey Bibao said it is difficult for them to conduct their business up to 9 pm because of insecurity in the market and urged Kisii county government to install more security lights.

The traders have challenged the county government to install four more security lights in the market to enhance security, especially during the night.

“We always pay tax when conducting our businesses. The government should use that tax to add more security lights. We are requesting our governor James Ongwae to look into this problem and offer solutions,” said Bibao.

They have also challenged the county government to employ people who can collect litter and put dustbins in all corners of the market to ensure cleanliness in the market.
