Sixty disabled people from Kibera who were given wheelchairs during the Niko Fiti campaign have every reason to smile after the management of Kenya Re gave them goods to start businesses, too.
Kenya Re director Jadiah Mwarania said the goods will be the beneficiaries’ first stock which they will sell to the public starting Friday.
On the same note, the director opened the stock by buying sweets and assured the beneficiaries that they will further support them by giving them finances to expand their businesses in future.
"These wheelchairs have a box where you will be keeping your goods. Then on the side, there is a tray where you will display the goods so that they can be bought by people, it also has an umbrella which will be your shelter in sunny and rainy days when you are on duty," he said.
Jerald Amunga who has been selling his goods at the Kenya Bus station said he had a problem since the place leaks.
They were however urged to know where to set their business due to competition in the marketplace. They were also advised to be keen and avoid getting into trouble with the city council as it could have an impact on their businesses.
