As the next general election approaches, Kenyans have been asked to hold their leaders accountable when seeking for another term in office, a Kisumu cleric has said.

Pastor James Koech of Neno Ministries said many leaders have the tendency of being elected and disappearing for the next five years only to come back to seek re-election.

Koech urged Kenyans not allow this to happen again.

"Most leaders have away, and a number have started coming back home with makeshift development projects because 2017 is around the corner, let us not listen to them," said Koech.

The cleric said leaders who have not performed should not be given another chance while those who have done their job well be given time to continue in fostering development.

"This time, since leaders have began campaigns, let us listen to them on the grounds of what they have done not just empty words and handouts," said Koech.

He said kicking out such leaders will send a message to those who will be elected that if they don't deliver, they will be kicked out of office.

Koech spoke to this writer in Kisumu on Sunday evening after a church service at his ministry.
