Kenyans have an opportunity to unite and put aside their religious differences in combating crime in the society.

This has been said by Subukia MCA Peter Njoroge Muchiri who said a recent incident in Mandera where Muslims faithful shielded Christians travelling with them in a bus.

He said the gesture is a clear indication that when Kenyans put aside their differences, they can fight and win crimes including terrorism.

The MCA said such an action needs to be embraced by all Kenyans.

“Kenyans have been suffering for being divisive through their tribal lines. The Muslims in the Mandera incident made an important decision to stand for what is right and fight terrorism rather than being divided on religious ground. Eventually all emerged as victors not victims. This is the spirit that should be embraced by all Kenyans,” Muchiri said.

He added that as election campaigns draw closer, everyone should avoid divisive politics and urged his colleagues to embrace the spirit of unifying the country.

“Politics that are divisive are not beneficial to the society. Rather politicians should advance politics that will foster development. Focus on unity that will enhance development,” he said.

At the same time, Muchiri called on all Kenyans to pray for the leaders of country. He was speaking to a group of women at Subukia Trading Centre on Wednesday.
