Keringet farmers have been urged to use modern farming methods so as to improve agricultural production.
Speaking yesterday during Kuresoi South Farmers Association seminar held at Keringet, Samuel Langat, the District Agricultural officer stated that the current food shortage will be avoided if farmers embrace the technology.
“Despite the fact that we live in productive land, many people face food shortage. It’s high time we embrace the technology,” said Langat.
Farmers were also urged to use fertilizers and practice crop rotation in order to maximize the production.
In her remarks, Nominated Senator Liza Chelule said that she will work with the authorities to make sure that the farmers are not exploited by the brokers.
“We are aware that farmers are facing challenges when it comes to marketing of their produce. We work hard as a county government to bring long lasting solution to the problem” said nominated senator.
