Khetia’s Supermarket has set aside Sh1 billion for an expansion programme of its stores in the next five years in Western Kenya region.

The Supermarket Director Ashok Khetia said they are in an expansion programme that will see more than five new stores opened up in the region.

“We moved to Kisumu in July last year and we will open up a new store in the city if need be. In the meantime plans are afoot to open up stores in Kisii, Busia and Kericho. To put up one store requires Sh200 million,” he said.

Khetia said they will strive to be dominant in the region and promised to introduce a range of products that are pocket friendly.

Speaking in Kisumu during the opening of the supermarket by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Mr Khetia said Kisumu outlet has created employment to 160 people.

“We are creating businesses; here we have 160 staff drawn locally here. Anywhere we go we must give priority to the locals to be able to work

Raila also awarded winners of the recent promotion of Chota Kuchota na Khetia Supermarket where Consepter Ayuma won a brand new car while others walked away with various goodies including a motorbike and other household goods.
