Residents of Kiabonyoru ward in Borabu have raised the red flag over the comeback of illegal liquor in the area.
The irate residents have warned those involved in the clandestine manufacturing of the illicit brews of dire consequences if caught.
The residents claimed that one of the manufacturers had enlisted a fleet of boda boda operators to transport the brews for sale in various market centers in the area, especially Borabu and Esania markets.
Agnes Sabina, a Borabu market trader, said the youth had started working for longer hours and they fear that with the comeback of the illicit brews, they might resume drinking and forget about working.
Area Chief Dancan Mokua on phone confirmed that some people were peddling the illegal brews and a crackdown has been launched to curb the return of the second generation alcohol.
"We have launched a search for the brewing dens and I am sure we will catch up with them," Mokua stated.
The chief warned all those involved in the business of arrest and urged the area residents to always give tip offs to the relevant authorities about those involved in the illegal business.
