Kiambu County Chief Whip, Charles Arahuka, has rubbished claims by the opposition that the Jubilee government plans to rig the 2017 general election.

Speaking at Gitaru Shopping Centre in Kabete Constituency on Monday, Arahuka said the opposition lacks agenda and has resulted to spreading false and malicious allegations against the government.

Arahuka alleged that the opposition, led by former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, wants to create anxiety in the country.

''The opposition is known for its malicious tactics and we are not surprised at their allegations,'' he said.

Arahuka, who is also the Gitaru Ward representative, warned that the claims by the opposition could result to conflict adding that the opposition needs to take responsibility of their malicious sentiments.

He said the move by opposition to spread propaganda is well calculated ahead of the 2017 general election. He asked leaders to be careful of the statements and remarks they make, adding that the unity of Kenyans should not be played with.

The Kiambu Chief Whip said that the country needs to remain peaceful ahead of the 2017 general election.

On Monday, last week, the opposition alleged a plot by the government to rig the 2017 polls.

The government has however refuted the allegations accusing the opposition of developing cold feet ahead of the 2017 general election.

Several leaders, including National Assembly Majority leader, Aden Duale, have rubbished the opposition claims terming them as propaganda.
