The political row between Kiambu county boss William Kabogo and Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu has angered many Gatundu North residents who have vowed to make wise leadership decisions in the 2017 general election at the ballot.
A section of residents who spoke to media on Tuesday regretted the political battle between the two which has reduced the presidential visits in Kiambu which is his home county.
The irked residents recounted that Kabogo and Waititu had not only ruined the name of Kiambu County but had also hindered presidential initiated development projects.
According to Titus Mwangi a Kamwangi town resident, Kabogo had proven incompetent in his ever questionable leadership. Mwangi said that Waititu was also a Nairobi-based foreigner and needed not to lead any part of Kiambu.
Beatrice Wangechi a Kanyoni resident noted that Waititu should give Kabogo time to serve Wananchi terming the current Waititu-Kabogo rivalry as a mere plan to destabilize the county development agendas and later use them to ruin Kabogos name come 2017.
She said that Waititu should have continued with the Nairobi.
"I think baba yao will lead the county better than Kabogo has. He is influential and can easily attract foreign investors in our county. He can also easily lure the national government to fund more projects within Kiambu. With his social character, I think Waititu will also be more engaging than Kabogo who is not traceable by normal citizens," said Mama Njoki alias Mary Mumbi.
Simon Muriu a Gakoe butcher man noted that the political steam in Kiambu was at stake and leaders needed to prioritize development projects instead of engaging in political wrangles something he said was making the county even poorer.
Nancy Nyakio an elate member of Mubaoini community within Gatundu North urged Kiambu county residents to consider choosing a leader and not a politician in the next general election.
She reaffirmed that the county will never grow with existence of rogue leaders who only cater for their political growth.
Asked about whom among Kabogo and Waititu can lead the county better, Nyakio revealed that both of the leaders were unfit for leadership positions not only in Kiambu but also countrywide.
"I wish we elected Nyoro, he at least had proven calm, ready to serve and goal oriented. Our decisions in 2013 were made out of big names. Not even a single electorate re-thought before casting his voter’s card," said Dominic Mwireri a Gituamba resident via phone.
The resident’s sentiments come a few days after the president revealed his dissatisfaction with the political hit in Kiambu County between William Kabogo and Ferdinand Waititu.
“When two bulls fight, the grass suffers and in this case, it is the Mwananchi who will not benefit,” he said president Uhuru in his Nyeri visit last week.
