A cross-section of teachers in Githunguri town and its environs over the holiday will receive training on first aid to equip them with skills to deal with injuries in schools.
Red Cross Kiambu regional chairman Dr. Henry Simiyu who will facilitate the training said that teachers are very important people in the society because they are the ones who spend a lot of time with children.
Simiyu said that children were prone to major injuries during their play and teachers should be given training on first aid which may prove to be vital when the they get injured.
They will also benefit from lessons that could help them and the society in dealing with far serious occurrences like fire, car accidents and other life threatening incidents.
The training which is aimed at equipping the teachers with specialised first aid training from Red Cross first aid specialists and trainers will also be co-sponsored by the Githunguri sub county administration who will offer their hall for the training.
The teaching fraternity will also be given first aid training in various fields including dealing with bruises, cuts, faint, burns and other minor children day to day injuries.
