Residents of Kiamwangi are living in fear of a cholera outbreak following poor sanitation and drainage systems.
The residents also complained of poor conditions of their houses and called on the county government the improve sanitation and drainage systems within the estate.
"I fear for my children and other children who might be affected by cholera and other diseases due to the leaking sewerage and unclean water which children innocently play with around here," said Morris Kiragu a resident on Saturday.
"This place lacks basic services like toilets and proper sewerage system. We have raised the matter several times with the relevant authorities but no action has been taken so far," added Kiragu.
The residents warned that unless action is taken with immediate effect, they will have no option but to take the matter to court.
Upon consultation, Gatundu North environment and health officer Beatrice Mueni promised to visit the area before engaging local legislators for further actions.
"I have never heard of a sewerage problem in Kiamwangi although there was a problem with their litter bins. I will visit the place on Tuesday next week before making a proposal to the county for the mess amendment," said Mueni from Kamwangi.
