Residents of Kiandege area in Naivasha have decried the return of Changaa brewing.

They claimed chang'aa is being brewed in broad day light in the area. The irate residents accused police of condoning the practise despite .

“We have often tried to have police arrest the brewers who are popular in the area but they end up being bribed. It is normal to see people taking booze in these dens," a resident said.

“We were told to mind our own business even when President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a directive that such dens should be destroyed,” the source further stated

Leonard Muchiri appealed to NACADA Chairman John Mututho to intervene saying many youths are now trapped by alcoholism.

“We have lost more than ten people since last year to illegal liquor and yet the police are doing nothing about it,” he added.

Andrew Muchemi added that many of the youth in the area had become unproductive as they started drinking from an early stage

“Mututho should begin from Naivasha since this is his major home ground. He should be on the forefront of helping us prevent this menace from continuing,” Muchemi added.
