Kibera bodaboda operators have been told to put on reflector jackets so that they are safe on the roads.

This comes days after it was noted that there were quite a number of bodaboda accidents in the area because of the reckless driving as well as the failure to wear the reflector jackets.

Speaking at Laini Saba area, Geoffrey Kirera, a bodaboda rider said that it is good if bodaboda riders put on the reflectors to help reduce accidents on the road as well as identify non bodaboda riders from bodaboda riders in the area.

“Some people may be pretending to be riders yet they are thieves. It is advisable for riders to operate with reflectors for easy identification. In most cases, people stealing motorbikes pretend to be riders, later they steal our motorbikes,” said Kirera.

“As by the stage laws, anyone found not wearing a reflector and dressed well as a bodaboda rider will not be allowed to park or carry passengers here. Wearing of reflectors makes it easier for a police officer to identify one as a rider and it also prevents accidents from occurring because then, drivers can easily identify that there is a rider on the road and not hit them,’’ said Kirera.
