Kibera residents have questioned the EACC over clearing former devolution CS Anne Waiguru of corruption claims.
The former CS had stepped aside to allow EACC conduct an investigation concerning the case. She was, however, cleared and now is in the race for the governor’s seat, come next year.
According to an affidavit submitted in court by business lady, Josephine Kabura, who is also the key suspect in the scandal, Waiguru was actively involved in the scandal.
Kibera residents on Thursday asked why the EACC cleared Waiguru without getting full information. They accused the commission of not doing a thorough job to fight the vice of corruption in the country.
‘‘I still don’t understand how a whole commission can say they don’t have evidence yet a mere business woman can present crucial information which the commission could have produced,’’ said Allan Asina, a Kibera resident.
Another resident, David Awino said if EACC is planning to probe Waiguru again, then the commission should know that they did a mistake clearing her. He added that Waiguru should stop giving excuses that some people are fixing her to kill her political career but rather provide tangible evidence to show that she is actually innocent.
