A section of Kibera residents have said Siaya governor, Cornel Rasanga did not honor the president when he called on CORD governors to replace president Uhuru’s portrait with that of former PM, Raila Odinga, who is also the current opposition leader.

Speaking at Olympic market, one of the residents, Edwin Asilo said the utterances by Rasanga meant that he has undermined the office of the president.

''We all know that Raila is loved by many but let us not do inappropriate things. That action alone can land him in trouble. Please as a leader, you should lead by example,'' he said.

Another resident, Oliver Masinde, agreed that Rasanga was on the wrong and argued out that such remarks by the governor could be considered hate speech by some.

''We know there is a struggle for power. Every person would like to be in that position but we should not undermine those in power. Rasanga did a mistake. It is free for any person to speak because there is the freedom of speech but what if your speech is causing discomfort to another person? I am a CORD supporter but I beg to differ with Rasanga’s advice,'' said Masinde.

The residents expressed their displeasure in the governor's words and urged other leaders to respect the president.
