Residents of Kibera's Soweto area have raised concerns over the alarming rate of insecurity in the area.

They claim that their lives are in danger due to the presence of armed groups marauding in the area.

Tom Onyango, whose house was allegedly broken into on Thursday night, said burglars broke into his house before neighbors rushed to the scene forcing the thugs to run away.

"Insecurity is very high here," Onyango said.

"The government should enhance the security to enable us live in peace, " he added.

Residents said that several incidences of theft have been reported in the area.
