After long sensitisation by politicians, residents of Sarangombe area, Kibera, have been flocking the voter registration centres.

According to Dennis Onyango, who is an IEBC official, on Wednesday, they witnessed more voters than in the first and second day of registration. He said that many have been highly influenced by the number of politicians who have been visiting the area to boost their numbers in the next general election.

Most of the youths from the area though seemed to embrace the exercise in order to be able to elect the leaders they want.

"We have signed up to at the beginning of 2017. We should have the power and the right to choose the person who will care for our interests,’’ said Fred Otieno, a resident of Kibera.

His comments were backed by his mother, Elizabeth Achieng who said that mothers have often been ignored and voting is the only way their voices will be heard.

The exercise of subscription in Kibera goes well with residents, including women and youth. They continue to sign up.
