President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to visit Kericho on Saturday to campaign for the Jubilee candidate ahead of the Monday by-elections.

According to Kibera residents, the presence of the president in the area can easily convince people to vote for his flag bearer.

One of the residents, Samira Ahmed said the president indicates power meaning he is set to receive a new MP if the Jubilee candidate is voted for.

Timothy Mwea, another resident said it shows how humble people are when looking for power. He said it is a very rare thing since very few presidents’ campaign for their party’s flag bearers.

John Jelimo who resides in Kibera said the presence of the president will not add any value since the people have already made up their minds on who to vote for.

‘‘It is very hard to convince a person to vote the other way round if he had made up his mind. I mean the president is going to Kericho but it is not his presence that will convince people to vote for the Jubilee party flag bearer. People have already decided whom to vote for,’’ said Jelimo.
