Celebrating new year is done in different styles globally.

In Nairobi's Kibera slum, things were not different as residents celebrated the new year in a rather stylish way.

The normally busy streets in Nairobi's biggest slum were flocked by residents who engaged in every manner of activity to ensure the beginning of 2016 is celebrated in style.

From the elderly to teenagers, things had to be done in style.

Photographers ware the busiest as they erected make-shift tents for the sake of photography.

Their eye-attracting background profile could only bring the appetite of the residents to take pictures.

Taking a photograph cost Sh50, which residents claimed was fair.

"At least I must also take a photograph once", said Peter Muli, one of the residents.

"This will be very important as it will be reminding me of my life in 2015."
