Kibera residents have urged the leaders of the area to construct interior roads to curb insecurity.
The residents say since November last year, the interior roads (panya routes) have been used by thieves and other criminals to harass them.
"I would like to ask our leaders to either close these routes or put security lights. These panya routes help thieves escape because they commit crimes and have soon vanished,'' said Patrick Mosonge, a resident of the area.
Another resident, Aritada Muyoge, said her husband is one of the victims of harassment. She said her husband had just come from work when a group of youths ambushed him and robbed him of money and his mobile phone.
She has asked the leaders to beef up security on every panya route or close them up so that crimes such as these can be stopped.
''If these roads will not be expanded they will still be used as escape routes and hide outs for the criminals,'' said Ms. Muyoge.
