Kibera residents residing in Mashimoni village are likely to get various diseases if they do not take responsibility of the population in the area.
Leonard Ogweso who owns a clinic in the area said that residents should take precaution measures to stop water pollution. He pointed out that in the recent days, Kibera has been facing water shortage and residents may be consuming contaminated water which is harmful to their health.
“I urge residents to be keen on the water they are using. Residents with habits of polluting water should stop to curb waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid among others,” he said.
“There are sewage rivers transporting wastes from the slums the water may look clean but do not attempt to use this water,” advised Ogweso .
Ogweso stated that landlords who have built their houses near water sources should ensure that the water sources are not polluted by wastes thrown carelessly by tenants.
