Schools in Kibera are expected to benefit from the ICT programme after the area MP, Ken Okoth launched ICT programmes in 9 public primary schools and 5 secondary schools.
According to the Okoth, the programme is expected to promote information and communication technology among children of school-going age and The Kenya Vision 2030.
“I have been at the forefront in improving the education system in Kibera and I am looking forward to ensure that every school benefits from the programme,” he said.
Okoth stated that the programme came at the right time as currently, students live in a global village where ICT has become an integral part of development.
“This, therefore, calls for people who are ready to embrace change and are technologically compliant. Embracing ICT skills at a young age will help the students improve their communication skills, writing skills, editing skills, critical thinking skills, and improve their innovation and creativity skills,” said Okoth.
Some of the schools that will benefit include Shadrack Kimalel, Olympic Primary, and Ayany Primary.
He was launching the programme at Olympic Primary School.
