Water vendors in Kibera’s Laini Saba are an unhappy lot since the heavy rains started.
Lukas Nyakundi said Wednesday his business is almost grounding to a halt due to lack of customers.
He added that there are days he goes without getting a single client since the rains started.
“I have been in this business for four years. This is where I get my daily bread. I buy a 20-litre jerrican of water at Sh3 and sell at Sh10 – 15 and sometimes Sh20. Since the rains started, the number of customers has greatly reduced as a majority of them opt to harvest rain water for domestic use,” he said.
He is however upbeat that he business will start booming once the rains subside.
