Slum residents can now sigh with relief as Nairobi County has assured on the regular supply of clean, free flow water.
Speaking on Sunday, Kidero promised slum residents that their taps would soon have increased running water, especially in estates that have faced continuous and acute shortages.
He further said that his government's 2015-2016 budget had allocated a massive Sh30 million for the expansion and upgrade of water provision and sewerage services across the city.
Kidero firmly stated that by June 2017, over 1,200 ATM water dispensers will have been launched on the city's slum estates to curb the perennial water shortages and exploitation by corrupt individuals.
The Kibera slum is among the areas in the city that are grappling with acute water shortage. Sewerage services are also in a pathetic state especially during the rainy seasons when open sewers flood to doorstep.
It is thus hoped that Kidero's assurance will boost hygiene among local residents and also opening up more avenues for economic developments.
