Nakuru County assembly speaker Susan Kihika on Friday held a press conference to clarify issues that had been doing rounds in the media concerning her family.

The media had a few days earlier carried reports of disagreements within the family where seven of the former Nakuru MP Kihika Kimani had accused the speaker of trying to disinherit them.

“I am sorry I that I am forced to drag family issues into the limelight but I have to set the record straight concerning what has been said on the media about my family,” said the speaker.

She explained that the family has had succession issues for over 11 years and it is only now that matters were coming into the limelight. She blamed some political elements for meddling in her family matters.

Explaining her position, the speaker said that the family had acted through a court order to auction the tenant’s property. This is what was alleged to have been unlawfully taken. Although the tenant had gone back to court to appeal, had lost the case.

Kihika was accompanied by several MCAs and friends during the early afternoon press conference at a Nakuru Hotel.
