Kimende residents in Lari Sub County have asked the government to address deteriorating security in the area.
The residents claim that the level of security in the area is deteriorating and want the police to intervene.
Speaking on Wednesday, the resident’s complained saying that cases of robberies and mugging are allegedly on the rise.
Jackson Githinji, a trader at Kimende alleged that cases of traders shop’s being broken into and property stolen are on the rise. He alleged that three cases of shops being broken into have been reported in the last one week.
“Security in Kimende is a serious concern that needs to be addressed by the government,” he said.
Sharon Wairimu, a salon owner at Kimende town alleged that her shop was broken into last month with property worth 200,000 stolen two weeks ago.
The resident’s claim that despite police patrols in the area security remains a serious issue. The locals now want the national and Kiambu government to deploy more officers to address the crime.
They also want their MP, Mburu Kahangara, to intervene and assure them of security.
Speaking at Lari town on Sunday, area OCPD Alfred Makoma warned criminals saying that they will dealt with accordingly. Makoma said that police had increased surveillance across the area and urged residents to work with the police in fighting criminals.
Makoma also cautioned youths being lured into crime saying that they too will be dealt with according with the law.
