Limuru Member of Parliament (MP) John Kiragu has urged residents to embrace unity and peace.
Speaking at Kamirithu trading center in Limuru on Thursday, the MP appealed to locals to co-exist peacefully saying that peace and unity among the locals will enable the constituency to achieve its development goals.
Mr. Kiragu said that Limuru is a cosmopolitan area and that peace and unity will be required for development.
Kiragu asked residents to shun leaders who are fond of spreading hate messages. He said that hate mongering and tribalism will not help to address the problems facing citizens.
He further said that it was time politicians and leaders realised that they have a duty to serve Kenyans and not to speculate and spread hate messages.
“Leaders across the political divide should put their energy in uniting Kenyans instead of creating political and tribal divisions among communities," he said.
Meanwhile, the Limuru legislator lauded Pope Francis' visit to Kenya saying that it will enable Kenyans to start the process of unity and reconciliation.
The lawmaker urged leaders and Kenyans at large to embrace the teachings and humility of the catholic Pope.
Kiragu said that the county needs leaders who are humble so as to advance the interests of all Kenyans.
