The Kisii county government will this year spend over Sh450 million in improving health provision and access and employ additional health personnel to improve service delivery in the health sector.

Speaking at a burial of the former principal Nyabigena Boys at Nyabururu Parish, area Governor James Ongwae said his government has prioritized health, adding that each of the an additional medical practitioners.

The governor pointed out that before devolution the county relied on only three health facilities, saying his government has increased the number arguing there was need to increase the health personnel to cover the new ones.

“We want to see our people get free medication and on time so that we can get a healthy county that can produce more,” he added.

He called upon all health stakeholders to help the county government in improving its current availability and accessibility of health facilities.

Kisii county is currently is affected by poverty contribute to poor health especially on feeding patterns leading to massive numbers of malnutrition especially in the remote areas, an issue.
