Kisii county government has been challenged to establish a talent academy for street boys to ensure their talents are exploited for their benefits and their immediate communities.
The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI)Kisii county Chairman, Benjamin Onkoba has decried a lot of talent waste among street boys in the region, challenging the Kisii county government to consider rehabilitating the street boys and have their talents exploited through teaching of life skills lessons in a talent academy.
Speaking to this writer in Kisii town on Tuesday evening, Onkoba observed that if the street boys in the town are rehabilitated and taken through life skills lessons in a talent academy, they become useful and responsible citizens to the society.
Onkoba challenged various stakeholders with an interest in children rights and welfare to partner with the Kisii county government to ensure there, is at least, one talent academy acting as a rehabilitation centre and talent academy for the vulnerable street children to transform them into useful citizens instead of allowing them to waste their talents in various fields.
"I'm challenging the Kisii county government to consider establishing a talent academy for the street boys in this town, to ensure they also go through life skills lessons after rehabilitation to identify their talents that can be exploited for their welfare and for their immediate communities," stated Onkoba.
