A man who killed his four children in Kisii County has been handed a 200-year sentence by a Kisii court after being found guilty.

According to the Standard, the accused, Lucas Misati, was handed the long jail term after pleading guilty to the charges.

Kisii magistrate Joseph Karanja ruled that Misati serve the sentence for 50 years concurrently for each four count of murder.

However, he has two weeks to appeal the sentence that could see him die in prison.

The accused was said to have killed his four children outside their rental house in Egesa in Kitutu Chache on November 10, 2012.

Misati's wife, identified as Hellen, said: "Misati came home at night and demanded that we relocate to another house immediately, but I insisted to clear rent arrears first."

"He was then furious as he picked up a knife and stabbed me on the forehead. Luckily I escaped," she said.

Misati pleaded guilty to charges admitting that he committed the offence and agreed to witnesses' statements.
