Parents across Kisii County have been urged to collect their children’s birth certificate from kisii county civil registrar for births and deaths office on time to avoid last minute rush when they are needed in various places .
Speaking in his office today Kisii County Civil Registrar for Births and Deaths Enock Morang’a said early collection of the vital document would avert the last minute rush by parents to acquire the document during examination registration period.
He also called on primary school heads to support in the collection of birth certificates for their students by collecting the documents on behalf of parents since they have collective records of all pupils due for examinations.
“It takes one day to register for a birth certificate. Primary school head teachers should assist parents and children in acquiring birth certificates by providing the office of the civil registration with details on their pupils”, Enock
The registration officer added that religious leaders were also instrumental in sensitizing members of the public on the need of registering their children for birth certificates and urged them to organize outreach programs to ensure their congregants acquire the vital document.
Apart from the civil registrar’s office, one can also register for birth certificates at various assistant chiefs’ offices as well as in hospitals.
He said that it is through registration of births and deaths that the government can be able to adequately budget for the populations’ needs and allocate resources commensurate with the size of the population in a given area.
