Parents from Nyamemiso village of Nyaribari Chache sub-county have been challenged to support the countrywide deworming exercise targeting children to assure their children of their health.
Riverbank Academy-Kisii headteacher, Benard Bosire, has tipped parents and local communities on the importance of the deworming exercise for their children, saying it has both health and education benefits for children, especially those going to school.
Speaking at the school grounds during the school's thanksgiving ceremony for posting good results in last year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) national examinations, Bosire said his school will offer space for the deworming exercise and challenged all parents to ensure their children are brought to the school for deworming.
Bosire said, worms were both beneficial and dangerous to the host, reason why they had to be managed properly through deworming among children who are vulnerable to the worms if not controlled.
"Deworming of our children is beneficial to them as it has positive health and education results during their growth and development stages," said Bosire.
