Traders in Kisii County market have been urged to keep the drainage system in the market clean for their own good.

This claim has risen from the cleaning department in the county since they find that rivers and drainage systems are highly affected by the continued dumping of wastes into the rivers and drainage areas in the town.

The traders on their side, argue that they do not have where to dispose this wastes since the county government has not yet provided them with dumping sites in and around the market. The traders are, therefore, urging the county government to provide them with areas to dump the used wrappers, food leftovers and rotten wastes such as fruits instead of dumping them into river sources which might destroy the rivers in the county.
