The decision by the Commission for University Education (CUE) to close down Kisii University's ten campuses in Western, Nyanza and the Rift Valley has caused a lot of drama.

It has prompted some stakeholders from the Gusii community to challenge the university's VC, John Akama, to come clean on the decision to avert public speculation on the matter.

Nyaribari Chache politician, Rachael Otundo, has challenged Akama to set the record straight by presenting facts disapproving CUE's report challenging the university's quality of university education, leading to the closure of the said campuses.

Speaking to the press on Monday in her Kisii office afternoon, Otundo, who is a land economist expert from the University of Nairobi, warned against politicisation of the matter she urged that the university should interrogate the reasons that led to CUEs decision to shut down the universities.

"As a professional,I am  concerned about quality education for our children and before we blame CUE over the closure of the Kisii University's campuses, we must interrogate whether the university administration met the required standards before opening the campuses in question," stated Otundo.

She mantained that the buck stops with Akama since he is the chief executive of the uUniversity and he owes parents and Kenyans an explanation on what went wrong or what is behind the scenes in the closure saga.

The politician warned university administrations against commercialising university education to the detriment of quality university education, arguing, opening up of campuses was not a bad idea but having campuses whose quality of education is compromised went against the objective of having university education made accessible to a majority of Kenyans.
