Residents from Kisii County have urged the management of Gusii Water and Sanitation Company (GWASCO) to help them get water as they have been suffering without it for quite some time.

This shortage of water comes after workers of GWASCO downed their tools and accused the management of not paying them.

The areas that are affected are Kisii town, the county headquarters of the county.

Addressing the media in Kisii town on Wednesday, residents appealed to the county government to help them solve the disputes in the management of water so that they can get back water.

''The workers told us not to expect water until the company pays them and now, we are the ones suffering,'' said Josephine Moraa, a resident.

According to the union chairman, John Obaga, the company did not remit pension retirement scheme money. The unionist said that the company was also not remitting money to cooperatives making it hard for them to get loans.

Workers have been complaining of the irregular employment in the company citing that people are employed from bars by the director to work in the county without following the procedure.
