The County Government of Kisumu has allocated funds under special programmes to build classrooms and de-silt rivers in Masogo/Nyangoma ward in Muhoroni constituency.

Masogo/Nyangoma ward manager Meshack Mumbo said two classrooms are being built in four schools within the ward.

“We have three primary and one secondary schools benefiting from this programme. Contractors are already on the ground and the works are on going,” he said.

Mumbo said desilting of Magadi stream in Wambi area is ongoing as a way of addressing flash water that occasionally causes floods.

Speaking to the press in Nyangoma on Monday, Mumbo said that locals are enjoying fruits of devolution as enshrined in the new constitution.

“The ward has changed; locals have clean water, better road networks and proper school infrastructure. Locals are seeing that their taxes are trickling down to carry out development in the area,” he said.

He hailed the good working relationship the area ward representative Samuel Ong’ou has with Governor Jack Ranguma.

Mumbo said that most access roads within the ward are set for rehabilitation and expansion to improve transportation in the area.

He called upon locals to offer support to their elected leader to be able to influence more projects from the county government.
